2018 hasn’t been the greatest year for Japanese whisky. While we’ve seen some new distilleries pop out new born whiskies, for the established players, things have been pretty gloomy.
But finally, there’s some good news out of Shizuoka Prefecture. Kirin has announced that beginning August 21, the fruity and sweet Kirin Whisky Fuji Sanroku Signature Blend will be available throughout Japan. This was previously only sold at Kirin’s Fuji Gotemba Distillery or via Kirin’s Drinx webstore. So while it isn’t a new release (it was first released in April 2017), and it’s NAS, it’s good to see something “premium” finally be more widely available.
Kirin’s whisky is of course blended by Jota Tanaka, the 2017 Icons of Whisky Master Distiller/Master Blender of the Year.
Fuji Sanroku Signature Blend officially listed as Open Price, meaning there is no MSRP, but Kirin themselves have been selling it for 5400 yen. 700ml at 50% abv.
